Famille Rose Qing Dynasty Chinese Porcelain "Good Luck"
Plate
Inventory # 70622

This beautiful Famille Rose style porcelain plate (shallow bowl)
is signed with the Chinese Imperial seal indicating manufacture
during the Guanxgxu period of the late Qing Dynasty of China. The

and Thunder pattern. This symbol represents good luck in the gift
of rain from heaven. The key pattern surrounds a floral blossom
pattern on a pink background. Five iron oxide red bats surround
a central "happiness" medallion. The spoken word fu
means both bat and happiness, thus the bat is a symbol of happiness.
In old China a bat was kept in the house for good luck. The combination
of five bats represents the five blessings: health, wealth, long
life, much virtue, and a peaceful dying. The bats are also on the
exterior of this plate. Excellent condition.
